My boys love stories, Callum loves reading them and both Nathan and James love cuddling up to myself or Matt before bed and having a story read to them. So when we were asked to review the LeapFrog Tag Reading System we excitedly agreed to try it out.
We were recently sent the LeapFrog Tag Reading System and the LeapFrog Tag Solar System Adventure Pack. The Tag Reader is available to buy from any good toy store and is priced at £29.99. Tag books range in price and start from £9.99 and can be bought online or from good toy stores too.
The Tag Reader is aimed at children aged 4 - 8 years old. It is recommended by teachers as it helps children with their reading, phonics, vocabulary and comprehension.
What is a Tag Reader I hear you ask! Well quite simply the Tag reader is a device for children to help them make reading more fun. The reader when put on a special page in one of the many Tag books talks to you. It can sound out words and read stories. Books have activities within them for children to do, so for children like Nathan who can't read yet this is great as it helps them learn words. Or if a child doesn't want to do much learning they can press a button on the page to hear the full story being read.
In the box you will find the Tag Reader, a Tag Reader stand, a USB cable to connect to the computer, a user guide and a sampler activity book
The Tag Reader is really easy to set up, you just need to insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) and connect it to your pc via the USB cable. You need to register to be able to download your Tag book audios but this is a two minute job. Even downloading the book audio is a simple task and is just a matter of clicking a few buttons to get the Reader ready to use with your book.
Both Callum and Nathan love the LeapFrog Tag Solar System Adventure Pack. It is great fun and they both can use it together as it has a board game on one side. On the other side there is lots to be learnt about our Solar System and and the planets that are in it. The pack comes with 3 pages of stickers which are also interactive with the Tag Reader. The two sided board is over 6 feet long and has over 40 activities between both sides. This will certainly come in handy when the boys learn about planets in school.
We love the Tag reader and highly recommend it, it is fun and educational. Nathan can't read yet but he has really enjoyed using the Tag Reader. He knows how to use it properly so I'm hoping that he will be able to use it regularly to help him learn to read. Callum is a whiz with reading and is already at a higher level for his age group but he loves using the Tag Reader with the Solar System Adventure Pack as it teaches him new things he didn't already know.
We give the Tag Reader a well deserved 5/5 rating. It is great value for money and a tool which my boys will use on a regular basis. They have already asked for new books which we will be ordering soon.
