Ingredients:
½ kg of lean ground beef¼ cup (60 ml) of red pepper, chopped1 cup (250 ml) of baby marrow, chopped½ cup (125 ml) of onions, chopped¼ cup (60 ml) of milk¼ cup (60 ml) of tomato sauce1 egg½ cup (125 ml) of bread crumbsSalt and pepper1 tsp. Italian seasoningFor the gravy:
1 beef stock cube1 cup (250 ml) of water1 Tbsp. (15 ml) of corn starchMethod:
Begin by pre-heating the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.Except for the ingredients that are needed for the gravy, mix all of the other ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined.Use a non-stick baking dish, or spray a baking dish with baking spray, and place your ground beef/mixed ingredients inside it. Shape it into a loaf shape and top with tomato sauce. Use a knife to ensure a smooth application.Bake the meat loaf for approximately one hour, allowing it to cook all the way through. Once done, remove the meat loaf from the baking dish, place on a separate plate, and allow it to set for 15 minutes.While the meat loaf is cooling and setting, get started on your gravy. Add the water and the beef flavour cube to the dish that the meat loaf was cooked in and bring to a boil. Stir in the corn starch, allowing the gravy to thicken. Once it has reached the desired consistency, add a bit of salt and pepper for additional flavour and remove from the stove.Before serving, cut the meat loaf and pour the warm gravy over it. 1This is a simple recipe that is ideal for winter family meal times.
