Doctor Who Playset and Figures

It is hard to believe that Doctor Who is celebrating his 50th anniversary later this year. I have to admit that I am not a fan of the show but my mum, dad, younger brother and all three of my boys are. It isn't hard to see why the programme was and still is so popular with the different generations as there is definitely something appealing about a time travelling alien who looks like a human. It maybe his TARDIS or his famous enemies (they Cybermen and Daleks are all that I know of), or maybe its even the mystery that he is only known as the Doctor, who knows. But what I do know is that each and everyone of them love it and I'm sure it will always be a firm favourite.

To celebrate the Doctor's milestone we were sent some toys to review. We were sent a 3rd Doctor Sonic Screwdriver toy, a Doctor Who Time Zone - Dalek Invasion Playset and two figures.

The Dalek Invasion playset once put together is a 3D card diorama it is one of two playsets available. They are both from different time zones visited by the Doctor in the TV programme. You can travel between different time zones or clip both the sets together to build bigger ‘zones’.

The Playset includes 1 exclusive hoverbout. You have to assemble this but it was very easy to do and didn't take long. This is for a Dalek toy which is sold separately. The playsets are priced at £9.99. They are aimed at children aged 5+. I helped Callum to put it together as it was quite tricky for him to fold the card in the right places.

The playsets are in scale with the Doctor Who 3.75-inch action figures so you can create your own adventures or simply display your collection. We were sent two of these figures a weeping angel and Clara Oswald. The figures are 3.75 inches high. They have lots of detail on them too. They come with a removable stand so you can display them if you so wish. Each figure is priced at £6.99.

There are 4 different Sonic Screwdriver toys to collect, a 4th, 3rd, 10th and  a futuristic screwdriver. We were sent a 3rd Doctor's screwdriver. The 3rd Doctor was and still remains to this day my mum's favourite. He was played by John Pertwee way back in the 70's. Each of the Sonic Screwdrivers are priced at £9.99. The screwdriver we were sent makes a buzzing noise when you press the end in. It requires 2 x LR44 batteries to work (these are included).

These and other toys are available to buy from Character. They are a must have for any Doctor Who fan.
